SAN ANSELMO
Oversized Sliding Glass Installation | California
3 PANELS | 1,200 LBS EACH | 5' x 20'
MUD, HILLS, AND 20-FOOT PANELS
Three 5' x 20' sliding glass panels, each weighing 1,200 lbs, for a hillside residence in San Anselmo, California. Recent rain events left the site access muddy and unstable, preventing direct ground-level installation. The panels needed to be lifted over the house structure to reach the installation location. Steep terrain, limited staging area, and the extreme panel dimensions (20 feet tall) required multi-machine coordination and crane support to navigate site constraints.
LIFTING OVER, NOT THROUGH
Multi-stage vertical transfer with crane coordination for the sliding glass installation. The SmartLift SL 608 lifted each 1,200 lb panel directly from the delivery trailer. Due to site access limitations, the Wood's MRTA8 hanging manipulator was suspended from crane to lift panels over the house structure. A four-person crew with interior scaffolding received and positioned each 20-foot panel from inside. This choreographed handoff between ground equipment, crane transfer, and interior crew allowed precise installation despite challenging site conditions.
The sliding glass installation created a seamless system for the luxury residence, navigating terrain and weather constraints that would have halted conventional installation approaches.
