ASPEN HOUSE
Sliding Glass Installation | Colorado
8 PANELS | 800 LBS EACH | 7' x 12'
PIECE-BY-PIECE FRAMES, STEEP TERRAIN
Eight 7' x 12' sliding glass door panels, each weighing 800 lbs, for a luxury residence in Aspen, Colorado. With no lay down space, the door frames required piece-by-piece installation in the openings—no pre-assembled units. Glass panels were too large to ship installed and needed field glazing on site. Congested site conditions on a steep slope required all materials to be forklifted and craned to a rear pool deck patio area. Limited access prevented direct equipment staging near the installation location.
CRANE, FORKLIFT, AND PRECISION POSITIONING
Multi-stage coordination for the sliding glass door installation. Hoists and pulleys supported the steel door frames during piece-by-piece assembly into the openings. The SmartLift SL 608 lifted each 800 lb glass panel from shipping crates, drove them to the assembled door frames, and precisely positioned the glass for field glazing into each 12-foot panel. After completing the pool deck installation, the SL 608 was craned over the house structure to the driveway area to continue work. Forklift and crane coordination navigated the steep terrain and site access constraints throughout the project.
The sliding glass door installation created a seamless connection to the pool deck, utilizing steel column framing and field-glazed panels to achieve the architectural design despite challenging mountain site conditions.
